Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an alternative medicine that treats patients by insertion and manipulation of thin needles in the body.

Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Its theory is based on the premise that bodily functions are regulated by the flow of an energy like entity called Qi.  Acupuncture aims to correct imbalances in the flow of qi by stimulation of anatomical locations on or under the skin called acupuncture points. These points are mostly connected by channels known as meridians.

Acupuncture promotes general health, relieves and controls pain, treats infertility, respiratory disorders such as sinusitis, common cold, bronchitis and asthma, sports injuries, stroke, osteoarthritis and treats and prevents disease.

With certain health conditions, acupuncture can be effective enough to reduce or eliminate the need to take pain relief or control symptoms. Acupuncture provides a faster recovery from injuries, decreases symptoms of stress and improves circulation.

Acupuncture is also used to treat multiple emotional or psychological disorders. Addictions, phobias, obsessive behaviour, eating disorders and anxiety also benefit from acupuncture.

In traditional Chinese Culture, (also chi or ch'i) is an active principle forming part of any living thing
