Do You See Yourself As A Goddess?

by Kylie Patchett

Last month I hosted a Women's Wellness event called Hurry Up and Slow Down with two guest presenters.

Together, we spoke about ways of slowing down, taking time out for ourselves, maintaining vitality, cultivating a calm mindset amidst the chaos of modern day life and how to find your own personal style without spending heaps of money to look good and feel great.

All great tips for a modern day woman.

During one of the sessions, I was chosen by one of the other presenters to talk about my personal style, and the crowd labelled me 'siren' out of the four style options.

To say I was confronted is an understatement!

To me a siren is sexy, sensual, confident and spunky.

And that is sooooo not how I see myself.

I asked friends over the weekend and they agreed that siren was indeed a good tag for me.

In fact they added magnetic, charismatic, charming to the list.  Now this was getting just too much!

Wowzers!  When I am on a stage my aim is to dress and appear business like, smart and approachable.

I am not a classic three piece suit wearer, but I certainly do not intend to come across as sensual.

That got me to thinking why the heck not?

Maybe it's the fact that bearing two daughters one year apart has graced me with bosoms three sizes bigger than in my twenties, leaving me self-conscious now even 7 years later?

Maybe being a sensual woman has grown to be mutually exclusive to being a business success?

Icons like Nigella Lawson would surely disagree!

Despite being a self aware gal, like a lot of women I spend more time talking to myself about what is not 'just so' and less time seeing and celebrating my assets, including a huge grin, a generous nature and yes well let's be honest, cups that runneth over!

The siren comment made me realize just how far apart our self-perception can below from how others see us.

How about you?

Do you have a personal cheer squad running through your head or is your head filled with backyard bully comments about losing weight, gaining weight, having less wrinkles, being taller, blah blah blah!!

What would be possible if we choose to celebrate the month of Aphrodite seeing ourselves as the gift to the planet?

To start seeing ourslves as others do?  Each perfect as we are.

Sensual, loving, sassy and complete.  Greek goddesses all.
