Only 1 in 2 Aussie Mum's Are Eating Breakfast Daily

Leading Australian mummy websites, bubhub.com.au and losebabyweight.com.au, have today revealed the results of their National Mums Nutrition and Exercise study*. The results revealed that more than 1 in 2 don’t eat breakfast daily, less than 5 per cent exercise daily and 9 in 10 are missing essential nutrients in their diet. Only 1 in 2 Aussie Mum's Are Eating Breakfast Daily

Rhian Allen, mum and Lose Baby Weight founder says, “As a new mum your sleep, diet and exercise patterns naturally change as your new bundle of joy becomes your number one priority.

But, we need to remember that our body changes before, during and after having a baby so you need to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly. And breakfast is the most important meal of the day!”

Surprisingly 86 per cent of mums claimed they knew that their body required different nutrients prepregnancy, post-pregnancy and while breastfeeding. However, the survey results showed that 9 out of 10 are missing out on key nutrients that are found in ingredients such as Flaxseed and that only 16 per cent of Australian mums are regularly taking Fish Oil supplements.

Kathleen Alleaume, Accredited Exercise Physiologist and Nutritionist adds, ”Nutrients found in flaxseed and fish oil contain essential nutrients, such as omega-3 fatty acids, which are vital for good health and important for growth and development for young children.”

The study also revealed that 62 per cent of Aussie mums with children under 5 are still ordering takeaway for dinner at least once a week. However almost all (95%) said that if there was a quick and healthy option in the cupboard they would choose it over takeaway.

Brad Lauder from BubHub says, “We are constantly inundated with mums of young children looking for advice. How to stay healthy when they (Mums) don’t have the time to focus on themselves is a popular topic. Our team is always looking for information to allow parents to make informed choices. We hope this survey does just that.”

Today also marks the launch of The Healthy Mummy, a new product range designed to help mums get healthy post baby and also aid weight loss. It has been 100 per cent created for mums, by mums and has been designed to help to support the milk supply of breastfeeding mums.

The range has been created by Lose Baby Weight and leading nutritionists in conjunction with the Monash University in Melbourne. The new range includes; nutritional smoothies, fish oils and portion controlled dark chocolate snack packs.

The Healthy Mummy Smoothie is higher in fibre and lower in sugar than any other shake or smoothie based product on the market. Each smoothie contains Fenugreek, Flaxseeds, Pumpkin Seeds and Apple Pectin to help to support milk supply and weight management whilst still maintaining energy levels. The entire range is also dairy and gluten free.

The Healthy Mummy range is available now at healthymummy.com and at www.losebabyweight.com.au. The smoothies come in three flavours, Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry and are sold at an RRP of $42 per tub - $2.69 per serve.

Healthy Mummy is a great option for mums on the run and helps them live a healthier life.
